We are hiring a Postdoctoral Scientist for a fully funded 2 year position. Open for applications until April 17th 2026
The primary role is to develop and implement high-throughput in vitro phenotypic screening assays to identify nutritional interactions between commensal gut bacteria and enteric bacterial pathogens with the aim of inhibiting pathogens. Given the expertise of the lab, the focus will be on screening commensal spore-forming gut bacteria. We have established a large in house culture collection of whole-genome sequenced gut bacteria for screening experiments. The successful candidate will have a PhD in gut microbiome research and/or anaerobic microbiology and ideally have experience of combining these techniques with bioinformatic approaches to understand gut microbiome functions. Experience in anaerobic microbiology and bioinformatics such as bacterial genomics, comparative genomics and/or functional genomics techniques is desirable.
